The volunteers and employees are cheerful and always helpful. I live in Red Rock, Pinal County and Marana is in Pima County but Marana provides a specific “blue bag” of food for qualifying, Red Rock residents. Which is great because Marana is the closest city to Red Rock. The problems I have are with the “food” provided. My family has several digestive issues which are alleviated by providing natural products and meals. Unfortunately, each time I’ve been to this food bank, I come home with canned food, several desserts, extremely spoiled fruits and vegetables, and spoiled meat (except 1 time the chicken was not spoiled). The food is chosen by the volunteers who put the items in a shopping cart for you and give you the shopping cart to take outside to your car. That’s the first time I can review what I’ve received. I’m told that because I pick up at Marana, I cannot pick up anywhere else in either county. We are struggling to put food on the table, and we don’t qualify for EBT. Nevertheless, low income families should have access to fresh produce, meats, and minimum desserts. With all the obesity and diabetic problems in the US, especially with our children, fresh meats and produce is a must.
