Attention: Ms. Anita Fein, Executive Director Last Saturday, December 12, 2020, at 12:20PM (30 minutes before your closing) I went to St.Edward's Pantry with my son and a friend to see if we can get some emergency food. We were stopped by someone who asked if we have an appointment. I explained that I didn't know that appointment is now needed to get some food from your pantry since the last time I was there was in 2017. She said appointment is necessary since March because of the Covid-19 and the information is Online. She was pointing at the piece of paper pasted next to the trailer door but how could I even read it when she stopped me from even stepping on the ramp. We were turned away by that woman saying 'no appointment no food!'. I don't know if she is a Priestess or a Nun because she was wearing a big cross hanging on her neck. She was impertinent and a RACIST. I am a Filipino and so she is. If I am a white person I'm sure she would even bow down her head to great whoever is getting food from your pantry and would probably would not let that person go home without even a piece of canned goods. She was so mean! If she belongs to a congregation, then, she should know how to talk to people who are in need of help. After all she is there to provide help, doesn't she? She talked as if she owns the pantry. Her attitude towards us was so demoralizing and demeaning. She shouldn't be working as a provider of community service to people in need. I really blew my top on her because of her attitude. When I got home I checked online everything about St. Edward's Pantry and I didn't see any announcement that an appointment is needed to get food from your Pantry. What I read is you don't discriminate regardless of race or color. What that woman did was inexcusable. There was another person inside the trailer who witnessed our argument. If that woman is the head of your Pantry, she should learn how not to discriminate especially to her own kind. Our only difference is she's able and I am disabled but we're both human. Thank you. Respectfully yours, Myrna Maningas (718) 406-4417
