its nice to come get food when we need it, but everything is outdated by months, my last box had 4 month old lunch meat, you couldn't eat any of the 5 packages, the rock hard cinnamon rolls the I always get that come from Safeway, I had to throw away all the veggies due to excess mold, I mean they gave me 5 bags of moldy carrots, we only come when we really need staples n edible food, even out of the meats we chose to eat, we still had indigestion issues. Most of the time we feel like we're just hauling out the trash for them. Typically only the canned items, and the dried products are edible, seems to me they need to do more sorting, and make better use of there trash been, when I was a kid we would get a truck load of old produce. Some we could sift through n get usable produce, and feed the cows n pigs the rest. But most of what we get now, should go to the livestock, due to bacteria from products either rotting or thawing out before the food bank gets it, I feel mishandling between the display case and when the pantry gets it is a huge reason as to why the products are so far gone, oh ya you can't freeze sour cream , yogurt, cottage cheese. Maybe the pantry should try eating some of what there offering us to survive on. Because we top off the garbage can every week. I did get 1 good onion, and a few usable apples. So here's my challenge to you. The pantry manager. Take a package of 4 month outdated frozen lunch meat home and try to eat it. I also had a steak that was so rotten it was smelled nasty apon opening it. Threw that out too. What a shame to have such a great program, that does a better job at giving us slop for the pigs than to care for the health of the communitty
