I have been struggling for years to get a successful position that would not only pay the bills, but I could be relatively happy. I have 3 degrees, pursuing a 4th, and I applied for a position within the Salvation Army. I know I was turned down because of the simple fact I do not believe in any type of religion. What bothers me most, is that I wrote a letter, and even though I live a great distance away, it bothers me to no end that I could have ended my job search and my family's financial crisis, if I was offered a position. It is a shame that I have been overlooked. I am sure some would argue that it is because I live so far. That is utter nonsense. They have a gas program, they could have helped me out, this isn't the first time I have been passed over, I feel that I am highly judged for past mistakes, the lack of faith, and perhaps people noticing my sense of humor, on facebook, Which should have no bearing on someone in need, especially, considering the need is for a job, that not only am I qualified, but, I have a vehicle, just not enough cash to do the gas for now. I adore the help I have gotten from here, do not get me wrong, however, I am heartbroken that people of 'faith' would not even consider an interview. This tells me, this clearly isn't the place for me.
I am disgusted by the way I am treated when I go into the Salvation Army in Norfolk Nebraska. I was in there today looking at purses and the girl behind the counter named Mary Had a girl come back and check and see what I was doing because I was kneeling on the floor because I had set my stuff down. She then went up to the counter and proceeded to talk to Mary about me. I stood there and watch them and listen to them. Mary then informed them that I was a thief and I had to be watched at all times while I was in there and I don't appreciate it. I wasn't stealing. I set my stuff down on the floor so I could check out the purses. Mary and the customers proceeded to bad-mouth. I set down the stuff I was going to buy and walked out. I will never step foot in that store again they have just lost out on a lot of money. Unless she is fired I won't be back.
