I am a widow and found there were times I needed help. I felt I should not be one that takes anything away from the poor or homeless. It came to a time when I really needed help and shoving my pride aside, I went to my local food bank. I was made welcome from the moment I stepped inside and treated with courtesy and respect the entire time I was there. It was easy to sign up and the volunteers knew what they were doing. I was sent into the next room and my shopping cart was waiting for me. I found a variety of things in the cart from fresh fruit and vegetables, yummy deserts and canned goods. Depending on the donations, the food varies from month to month. If there are more than one person in your family that need this help, you will need to give the clerk the names and birth dates of everyone you want to receive food for. If you have questions, call and they will help you out. They speak both English and Spanish. I found it's okay to need help and the Yuma Food bank is a good place to go for that help. I give a big thank you to all who donate with food, money or time. You are greatly appreciated.
